Life is full of twists.

After a wonderful birth, Grahm was having a little trouble breathing. Since it seemed like this would not clear up on its own, we took him to the hospital. After a battery of tests, the doctors decided he has TTN. Wiki it. Google it. Called wet lung by many. It’s where the moisture in the lungs doesn’t get completely cleared out making that part of the lung not function as well until dried or cleared. The cure? Time. Typical clearing is anywhere from 24-72 hours and occasionally more but it varies greatly. This condition can happen with newborns of any age but only seems to occur in about 1% of babies.
He’s currently hooked up to monitors and an oxygen cpap machine to help force a little air into the lungs. This helps to expand the lungs and helps to dry then out. When the breathing slows and his blood oxygen level stays high enough to not need supplemental oxygen, we’ll be able to take him home. Until then, he gets to stay in an uncomfortable over priced hotel.
Life is full of the unexpected. Nobody wants to see a little baby all full if wires and tubes and unable to be held by Mom and Dad, but this is the best thing for him and we trust that God is in control of it all and will help us through this tough time.
Please say a prayer for our whole family throughout this time and specifically for the clearing of Grahm’s lungs.
